Reefton is a 13.5 MW community-scale solar farm being built just north of Reefton township on the West Coast.
Taking shape across around 20 hectares of working farmland, the project is expected to supply the equivalent of approximately 3,000 homes when commissioning is completed in late 2026.
Nearly 21,000 solar modules will convert the region's daylight into locally generated renewable electricity, helping reduce Buller's reliance on fossil-fuelled generation brought in from elsewhere.
The layout keeps the farm in productive use: generous gaps between panel rows and raised modules create room for sheep and young cattle to graze as the solar farm operates.
